Jesse Powell, co-founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, with the majority of the contribution made in ether (ETH).
I am excited to join other leaders from our community to unite behind the only pro-crypto major party candidate in the 2024 Presidential election,” Powell posted on his X account
During this election campaign, Trump has emerged as a supporter of cryptocurrencies, announcing last month his acceptance of crypto donations and advocating for U.S.-based bitcoin production to establish leadership in the crypto industry. However, specific policies on crypto remain unaddressed, and the topic was notably absent from the recent presidential debate with Joe Biden, disappointing the crypto community’s expectations.
Jesse Powell from Kraken is among several crypto leaders backing Trump’s campaign. The Winklevoss twins, founders of Gemini exchange, also contributed $1 million each, although some funds were reportedly refunded to adhere to donation regulations.
